Technical Procurement & Planning Engineer

GreenHouse Energy Consulting designs and installs solar power and battery backup systems for residential and commercial customers. The procurement, preparation and planning of the required equipment is a key role which has a high impact on the effectiveness of our installation teams and the professionalism of our service.

We’re looking for a proactive, organised and driven individual to manage our procurement & warehouse requirements.

The position is highly technical in nature, and will require an incumbent with a formal engineering qualification or applicable trade. Strong commercial and administrative skills are a key requirement.

Daily responsibilities will involve:


Placing purchase orders with suppliers to ensure the correct equipment and materials for each work order are available on time.
Managing communications with suppliers, both telephonically and via e-mail in order to convey information promptly and accurately.
Communicating with installation teams to identify their procurement requirements/requests for work orders.
Ensuring products are procured from the supplier offering the best value proposition.
Contingency planning and problem solving in the event of supply shortages.

Capturing equipment availability status in scheduling system.
Providing a summary of costs for the equipment procured.
Capturing serial numbers of substantial equipment issued to installation teams.
Warranty registration of applicable equipment.
Updating the client information to record the relevant equipment that has been installed.
Capturing supplier invoices
Loading and reconciling supplier accounts for payment.
Inventory Management:

Maintaining the logical location of equipment in the warehouse.
Managing the return of old stock to the warehouse.
Managing and processing the return of faulty/defective (Within warranty) equipment with the relative supplier.
Preparing equipment prior to work orders.
Verifying good received against delivery notes
Tracking and monitoring stock levels
Secondary responsibilities

Facilities and fleet management responsibilities as advised.

Basic (non-negotiable) requirements:

A drivers licence & own transport
Appropriate tertiary education (BTech, BEng or equivalent)
Excellent written & verbal communication skills
Efficient & competent computer skills

Salary: R10,000.00 to R15,000.00 /month
